Ross Ashton
Ross Ashton is a multi-award-winning Projection Artist, Show Designer, Projection System Designer, Producer & Consultant. He is also the Creative Director of The Projection Studio. In 2019, he was made ‘AV Professional of the Year’, by AV Magazine in recognition of his career at the forefront of video projection mapping design.
His years of experience have produced an instinctive understanding of the relationship between artwork and structure, light and surface, object, and subject. The size and scale of his work has led to his being commissioned for both stand-alone works and broader based large shows designed and created for national and international audiences. His specially commissioned ‘son et lumière’ have received world-wide attention.
His reputation for large scale spectacular pieces means that he has created projections as commemorations for governments around the world. He has also collaborated with other artists and lighting designers in the production of shows from Rock & Roll to classical concerts and theatre. His expertise has also been called on for numerous film and television productions.
His work has been seen by millions throughout his career and never fails to be thought provoking, moving, and exhilarating.
Karen Monid
Karen Monid is a sound artist and projection specialist.
Born and raised in London, she began working in theatre sound production in 1991. In 1992, she began to work in scenic projection, subsequently becoming a specialist in large scale and architectural projection and its integration with her sound work.
She has a First Class BA(Hons) in Humanities with Art History and Music and also gained a BTEC HND in Technical Theatre at the Central School of Speech and Drama, where she focused on creative sound work.
She creates immersive sound artworks as stand alone installations, as well as creating unique soundscapes and soundtracks for son et lumière and projection installations worldwide.
She has a passion for history and heritage, including the worlds of soundscapes now lost to us. She also works extensively with spoken word and languages, her work in the latter being featured on BBC Radio 3.
Her unique skillset as a sound artist and projection specialist has led to many in-depth collaborations with the international projection artist, Ross Ashton under The Projection Studio.
